Winterizing protects your system by forcing air through your backflow prevention device and irrigation lines, keeping them mostly dry during freezing temperatures. This process will prevent ice from forming and expanding inside pipes and other components of your system.
Failing to winterize could result in many complications with your system, such as busted or warped backflow preventers, broken pipes, and ruptured zone valves. It is the customer's responsibility to schedule the winterizations on NEW and existing systems. MTI covers no "cold weather" damage during any warranty period if the system is not winterized, as it is a form of customer negligence.
